Gull River White Water and Easy Rafting, Minden, Ontario

We ventured north into the Kawartha lake district of Ontario, to explore this cottage area. We found a treasure of a hotel located on the Gull river called Agia Maria Inn and Resort http://www.agiamariainn.com/. The Inn was clean and well kept with a small restaurant with meals prepared by the hotel manager Scott. The Inn provided free usage of their H2O canoes which they distribute. This allowed us to explore the Gull river on which the Inn was located. The town of Minden is located one hour north on the Gull river by canoe.

When we arrived at the hotel we were informed about the white water kayaking Pan Am games tryouts that were being held just north of Minden in the rapid part of the gull river http://www.whitewaterontario.ca/gull-river-oc-slalom.html one of the best set of rapids in the world. There were kayakers from around the world trying out in theses excellent rapids.

The beauty of this area is unfathomable and there is a parking area and private hiking trails along the side of the road to really enjoy the atmosphere. However, this same fast water, flows gently into the town of Minden, and families can park their car along the river and jump in and float through town. You can even ride the easy current for hours and cruise for miles down the Gull river into the lake. Go to the Business district off the Hwy and find a spot to park next to the river, and then jump in.

For a beautiful summer water experience, which is natural and free, check out the Gull river in Minden Ontario.
